Before diving into PPR pipe fittings specifically, let's start with some key facts about PPR pipes:

• PPR stands for polypropylene random copolymer, a thermoplastic resin that is corrosion proof, flexible, and can withstand high temperatures and pressures.


• PPR pipes are manufactured in standard diameters like 20mm, 25mm, 32mm, and up to 160mm for different flow requirements.

The most common type of fitting used to join PPR pipes are socket fittings. As the name suggests, these fittings have a socket design that receives and fuses with the end of a PPR pipe.

 

 

PPR socket elbows are available in 90 degree and 45 degree configurations to enable piping to bend around corners and obstacles. 90 degree elbows are the most commonly used.

 

 

The elbow has a straight socket on one end to connect to a length of PPR pipe. On the bend, there is a socket angled at 90 or 45 degrees to receive another section of pipe and change direction.

A PPR socket union fitting allows two sections of pipe to be connected, disconnected, and reconnected repeatedly for maintenance.
