US producer of plastic products Spartech has announced the launch of its 1-Seal packaging solution at FMI 2012 in Dallas, Texas. The technology provides a sustainable, re-sealable, durable packaging solution to packaging brands in the food industry.

According to the company, 1-Seal caps and seals using an in-mold label (IML) by ignoring a portion of the label surface exposed inside the lid, in one step, reuters.com reported.

The 1-Seal lid requires no film or foil to seal. The IML is integrated directly into the tray during the production process and allows for improved graphics that, when exposed to aqueous products, do not degrade.

Made of a single thermoplastic, the label and lid make the entire package recyclable in streams that collect polypropylene, the company said.

Spartech will also introduce its EnviroAir technology that reduces the density of thermoplastic rollstock, can potentially cut down the weight of sheeting by up to 40%, and can be used in a variety of packaging and industrial applications.
